I’m celebrating the new year on the balcony of my apartment in Shanghai. It’s hard to believe that just a year ago, on this very night, my only new year’s resolution was that I had to find a way to move to China. And I took the photo attached here during my first trip to China last year. Now, I’m headed into my ninth month of living in Shanghai- a ninth month that also ends with my first trip to India- and it’s hard to even wrap my head around it.

So, here’s my only resolution for 2012: to remember, every day, how much I hoped for this on new year’s last year and not take any of this for granted.
